Amy Ware

Director

Amy Ware received her Ph.D. in American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin; her MA in American Indian Studies from UCLA; and her BA from Smith College. Her book, The Cherokee Kid: Will Rogers, Tribal Identity, and the Making of an American Icon received the 2015 Oklahoma Historical Society’s Outstanding Book on Oklahoma History Award.

As HDO’s associate director, she acts as a liaison between HDO faculty and the public, and oversees the administration of the program. Contact her to discuss American Indian cultural history, her dog Rosie, or anything related to HDO.
